A small Red Cedar carving blank ideal for whittling small characters
Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) from Central North America and Australasia is a Salmon-pink to reddish brown timber with straight grain.
Cedars are softwoods, and red cedar is soft and light weight. It is very easy to work although blunt tools can lift the grain. Its softness makes it an ideal wood for carving and whittling.
