Purpleheart - Oversized Pen Blank
Purpleheart is an unusual wood from Central America. When freshly cut the wood is a pinkish-brown colour, but on exposure to the atmosphere (particularly UV light) it turns a vivid purple, and with time will darken further to a deep purple-brown. Finishing a piece with a UV blocking finish such as melamine lacquer can keep the vivid colour for longer. The wood is quite hard and dense, with some blunting effect on tools.
These oversize blanks are ideal for larger pen kits such as the 'Gentleman' series of pens.
PRODUCT INFO
The price qouted is for a single pen blank.
Each blank is approximately 25 x 25 x 150mm (1 x 1 x 6"), ideally suited for the larger bodied pen kits and similar projects.
The ends of the blanks are dipped in grain seal to reduce the chance of damage while in storage.
