Lacewood Project Blanks
Ropalo Lacewood (Brazilian Panopsis) from Brazil is fairly dense and is a red-brown mahogany colour. Lacewood gets its name from the patterning of the graining, which has a similar appearance to lace.
There are several timbers that are referred to as 'Lacewood', ours is the Ropalo species. The wood is very dense and has a high blunting effect on tools. It can be polished to a high lustre which can bring out the Lace pattern.
