Gombeira - Standard Pen Blank
Gombeira (Swartzia spp.), also known as Coracao de Negra or Brazilian Ebony is a dark black-brown timber with fine straight grain. When first cut, the bands in the timber are a golden-yellow colour, but this quickly darkens to a dark red-brown. The wood very similar to Wenge except a little more dense and with a finer finished surface.
The timber can be difficult to cut due to its density, and repeated sharpening is often required, but the wood can be finished to a high sheen.

Each blank is approximately 19 x 19 x 145mm (0.75 x 0.75 x 5.75").
The ends of the blanks are dipped in grain seal to reduce the chance of damage while in storage.
