Chestnut - Resin Stabilised - Standard Pen Blank
A wood blank for pen turning cut from Sweet Chestnut (Castanea sativa).
Chestnut is an attractive biscuit coloured timber with darker irregular banding. The timber is light and quite easy to turn, with only a slight dulling effect on tools. and will take a fine polish.
This blank has been vacuum stabilised with a polymer resin to increase its hardness, strength and resilience.

Each blank is approximately 19 x 19 x 145mm (0.75 x 0.75 x 5.75").
The ends of the blanks are dipped in grain seal to reduce the chance of damage while in storage.
