Bog Oak - Standard Pen Blank
A Bog Oak (Quercus robor) blank for pen turning.
These blanks are cut from a block of oak submerged for hundreds of years in a German bog. The timber was recovered and cut in 1960.Bog oak has a rich antique brown colour, it is fairly dense but easy to cut and can be polished to a bright shine.

Each blank is approximately 19 x 19 x 145mm (0.75 x 0.75 x 5.75").
These blanks have Not been end sealed - given the age of the timber and the time the board was cut, I do not expect much movement.
